One of the most commonly reported reasons coaches, managers, officials and athletes of all ages give for leaving a sport is unacceptable parent behaviour. The Respect in Sport Parent Program helps define a standard of behaviour for all parents and guardians, and creates a more rewarding, safe and respectful environment for everyone involved. Research shows parents and guardians want to do a great job supporting their kids, but are sometimes unsure of how, and Respect in Sport for Parents provides the tools to provide the best support you can!
This program compliments the existing Activity Leader and Coach Program by reinforcing a parent and guardian's role in their child's activities. It empowers parents and guardians to:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of their children,
- Encourage proper communication with officials and coaches, and
- Make sport and recreation result in a positive experience for all.
